On December 22, 2025, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, the newly-appointed Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented his Letter of Credentials to Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
Ambassador Jia stated that, China has always been a staunch supporter and active contributor to the cause of the United Nations. With surging unilateralism and protectionism in the world, China will continue to uphold true multilateralism, and firmly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, at the same time resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests. China will also continue to engage actively in the UN80 Reform Initiative to help the United Nations overcome difficulties, restore its authority and reinvigorate itself.
Ambassador Jia noted that President Xi Jinping, with a global vision and a focus on the well-being of humanity, has put forward the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. China stands ready to work with the United Nations and all relevant parties to promote the establishment of a more just and equitable global governance system and the cause of world peace and development.
Director-General Valovaya welcomed Ambassador Jia to his new post. She pointed out that China is an important pillar of international cooperation and multilateralism. She expressed gratitude to China for always adhering to multilateralism, supporting the work of the United Nations, and making significant contributions to promoting world peace and development. The United Nations Office at Geneva looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China to jointly safeguard the UN Charter, international fairness and justice, and promote the improvement of the global governance system.
