Doha: Italian start-ups at Web Summit Qatar 2026

On 3 February in Doha, the CEO of Invest Qatar, Sheikh Ali Alwaleed Al Thani, met the Italian start-ups participating in the Italy Pavilion at Web Summit Qatar 2026. The meeting, attended by the Ambassador of Italy to Qatar, Paolo Toschi, reflected the strong interest shown by Qatari institutions in Italy's innovation ecosystem.

Web Summit Qatar 2026 once again confirmed its role as one of the world's leading platforms for emerging technologies, digital transformation and international economic cooperation. Italy's participation through the Italian Trade Agency Pavilion represents a particularly significant step, further consolidating the strategic dialogue between Italy and Qatar in high value-added sectors.

The Italy Pavilion hosts over twenty start-ups and innovative companies operating in areas including artificial intelligence, fintech, smart cities, biotechnology, sustainability and digital transformation, providing a privileged showcase to promote Italian know-how and to foster new industrial and financial partnerships.

During the meeting, Ambassador Toschi emphasised that the presence of the CEO of Invest Qatar represents an important signal of the shared commitment to strengthening synergies between Italian enterprises and Qatari investors, within a partnership-based approach aimed at the joint development of innovative projects and the international expansion of start-ups.

Ambassador Toschi stated: "Italian start-ups regard Qatar as a strategic partner for investment, project development and international expansion, and see Web Summit as an extraordinary opportunity for shared growth".

The meeting with the CEO of Invest Qatar forms part of the broader framework of the "growth diplomacy" promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, aimed at creating concrete opportunities for businesses through coordinated action among institutions, trade associations and the productive sector.
