HARRISBURG -State grant funding was awarded to two community development projects in the 88th Legislative District, according to Rep. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-Cumberland).
Under the PENNVEST low-interest loan and grant program, a total of $3.75 million has been awarded to Pennsylvania American Water - New Cumberland to replace lead and galvanized water service line using copper pipes and trenchless excavation. After the line replacements are completed, Pennsylvania American Water will provide each customer with a certified pitcher filter and six months of replacement cartridges. The total funding includes a loan of $3,627,737 and a grant of $122,263.
Under the Multimodal Transportation Fund grant program, Hampden Township has been awarded $138,370 to make pedestrian improvements along Good Hope Road.
"Investing in our communities means ensuring safe drinking water and improving pedestrian safety," said Delozier. "These grants will help replace outdated lead and galvanized water lines in New Cumberland, protecting public health and providing peace of mind for families.
"At the same time, the funding for Hampden Township will make Good Hope Road safer and more accessible for pedestrians visiting Srouji Park. These projects reflect our commitment to infrastructure that supports both health and quality of life for residents," Delozier concluded.
The funding for these projects was approved by PENNVEST and the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
Questions about these grants can be directed to Delozier's office at 717-761-4665.
