Carter delivers $5 million to Tybee Island for new fire station

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) today delivered $5 million in federal funding for the City of Tybee Island to construct a new fire station as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

The bill now heads to President Trump's desk, where it is expected to be signed into law. Both Senators Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) voted against this funding.

"Tybee Island's current fire station does not meet the needs of the city's world-class firefighters, EMS providers, and marine rescuers. This necessary funding will make Tybee Island safer and ensure that those charged with protecting our community have the tools they need to do so effectively," said Rep. Carter.

"On behalf of the City of Tybee Island, thank you, Representative Carter, for securing $5 million in federal funding for the city's new fire station. This critical investment will ensure our first responders can continue dispatching land- and marine-based fire and rescue operations from a modern, resilient facility," said Mayor Brian West.
