Roundabout construction traffic shift planned in Fitzgerald
What: Griffin Grading & Concrete LLC, the contractor building a roundabout in Fitzgerald at State Route 90, plans to move Lower Rebecca Road traffic from the old, existing lanes to adjacent temporary lanes. This is needed for continued construction. Message boards will alert drivers of the shift and traffic control devices will be used as long as the shift is in place. This is the first roundabout in Fitzgerald and is expected to reduce the number and severity of crashes at the intersection. Construction is expected to be complete before the end of the year. The Georgia Department of Transportation project is valued at approximately $7.8 million, which includes preliminary engineering, purchase of right of way and construction.

Where: On Lower Rebecca Road at SR 90, Fitzgerald.

When: Scheduled Wednesday, June 18, subject to change.
