UNESCO invites the governments of Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, the non-governmental organizations maintaining official partnerships with UNESCO and active in relevant fields covered by the Prize, the UNESCO Chairs, the Category 2 Centres, the international scientific unions and universities to submit nominations for the 2025 inaugural edition of the UNESCO-Uzbekistan Beruniy Prize for Scientific Research on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Awarded every two years to three prize-winners, its purpose is to reward individuals, institutions, or organizations for groundbreaking contributions to AI ethics research, international scientific collaboration, and the practical application, which had a significant transformational impact on a national, regional or global scale. Each of the three individual prize-winners will receive a financial award of USD 30,000, a Beruniy medal and a certificate.
