Baker: State Budget Funds New Pennsylvania State Police Troopers

HARRISBURG - Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) announced today the 2025-26 state budget includes funding to strengthen public safety across the commonwealth through continued investment in the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP).

"Public safety is a critical component of healthy, stable communities and I am committed to ensuring that law enforcement has the support it needs to keep criminals at bay," Baker said. "The Pennsylvania State Police play a vital role in protecting residents, particularly in rural areas, and this funding helps ensure they can continue to fulfill that mission."

The enacted state budget provides funding for four PSP cadet classes. Following approximately 27 weeks of rigorous training, the most recent cadet class graduated 49 new state troopers who are now serving communities across the commonwealth.

"I congratulate these new troopers and wish them much success as they begin their careers in public service," Baker said. "I also pray for their safety and wellbeing as they work each day to keep our communities secure."

The Pennsylvania State Police are currently accepting applications for its next hiring cycle through Jan. 23, 2026. Individuals interested in becoming a state trooper can find information on application requirements, job benefits and career opportunities at https://www.PATrooper.com.
