In the next few weeks, voters will have an opportunity to visit The University of Scranton and hear directly from candidates in two important and high-profile elections on the ballot in the Nov. 4 general election.
The Scranton Mayoral Debate will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the PNC Auditorium inside the Loyola Science Center. The Lackawanna County Commissioner Debate will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Pearn Auditorium inside Brennan Hall.
Both debates are being organized by the University's Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service. The center's director, Brian Snee, Ph.D., will be the debate moderator. Journalists from several local news organizations, including the Times-Tribune, Fox 56, WBRE, WNEP and WVIA, will serve on the panels.
The debates, which are expected to last about 60 minutes, are open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served and subject to capacity limits. The debates will be shown on ECTV.
