Strengthening Curriculum implementation to Enhance Quality of Education in Iraq.

UNESCO in collaboration with the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (UNESCO IBE) and with funding from the European Union through the ITALEEM project, held an orientation workshop on adapting curriculum quality assurance tools and approaches. The 3 days' hybrid workshop took place on 18-20 January 2026. It was attended by 12 technical officials from the Ministries of Education in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

An orientation joint workshop, UNESCO introduced the UNESCO IBE Curriculum Resource Pack, a global training tool that supports curriculum design, develop, and implementation. The meeting focused on analyzing key challenges in general education, adapting the selected components of the curriculum resource pack to the Iraq context, and planning targeted training for curriculum developers, education supervisor's teacher trainers, and policymakers to improve of the quality of o general education in Iraq.

This initiative and collaboration mark an important step toward strengthening quality curriculum implementation and enhancing quality learning outcomes for all students in Iraq.
