IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… Sen. Rick Scott Questions Sec. Hegseth, General Caine in Senate Armed Services Committee Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, Senator Rick Scott questioned top defense officials at a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) hearing on the Department of War budget request for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY 27) and the Future Years Defense Program.

You can watch his questions for the witnesses, Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth; Under Secretary of War and Chief Financial Officer Jules W. Hurst III; and General J. Daniel Caine, USAF, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff by clicking HERE or on the image below.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM SENATOR SCOTT'S QUESTIONS:

ON DEPARTMENT OF WAR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

SEC. HEGSETH: "What I'm most proud of is the incredible men and women who serve our nation in uniform and what they are capable of and when they're given a clear mission and unleashed to it"

"Men and women [are] more inspired to serve in the military than they have been in a generation, and you see that in the young Americans who are rushing to recruiting stations at historic numbers, 30-year highs across the force. We're hitting our recruiting numbers halfway through the year. Why is that? Because the American people look at what we're doing at the War Department by getting back to basics and they're attracted to that."

ON FOREIGN MILITARY SALES:

SEC. HEGSETH: "The America First Arms Strategy prioritizes what we sell and to whom. A catalog approach. Foreign military sales are critical to our own defense industrial base. It's more customers for our companies that employ more American workers to ensure our allies are properly armed the fights and they can stand alongside us."
