Italian Cooperation Humanitarian Flight Assists Over 1,500 Lebanese Families

A humanitarian flight organised by Italian Cooperation, in partnership with UNHCR, landed in Lebanon this morning to address the country's severe humanitarian situation and the growing number of internally displaced persons. The initiative was launched at the instigation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, in agreement with the Deputy Minister, Edmondo Cirielli.

Minister Tajani emphasised that the flight represents a tangible sign of the Italian Government's solidarity with the affected populations and a concrete contribution at a particularly difficult time for the country.

The flight, departing from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) in Brindisi, arrived at Beirut airport carrying approximately 30 tonnes of essential relief items, including kitchen sets, blankets, hygiene kits and jerry cans, intended for more than 1,500 families.

The aid will be handed over to the local UNHCR office, which will oversee its distribution - in close coordination with the Lebanese authorities- to displaced families across Lebanon, as well as to host communities, where humanitarian needs continue to grow.
