The Menlo Park Safe Routes to School Program partnered with Las Lomitas Elementary School to participate in the San Mateo County of Education School Travel Fellowship Program to identify and implement a traffic garden. A traffic garden is a replica of a real-world street network designed for children to safely practice bicycling and the rules of the road in a car-free environment.

On Sept. 2, the School Travel Fellowship team and volunteers painted a traffic garden at Las Lomitas featuring bike lanes, intersections and more.

Las Lomitas has an open campus after school hours and weekends. Students are welcome to bring their bikes and practice their bicycling skills.
