UMMC celebrates employees during annual appreciation week

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is preparing to celebrate the people who move its mission forward every day. Starting Monday, May 11, employees across UMMC hospitals and clinics will enjoy gifts, games and delicious treats during this year's Employee Appreciation Week.

"Employee Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary people who make UMMC such a special place," said Frank Lenior, chief human resources officer. "Across all three of our mission areas, our employees demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellence every day.

"Whether through major accomplishments or the small interactions that shape the experiences of those around us, every moment matters. Thank you for the meaningful impact you make on our patients, students, colleagues, and communities throughout Mississippi."

Across metro-area locations - including Colony Park North and South - as well as community hospitals in Madison, Holmes County and Grenada, festivities will take place throughout the week.

Employees can look forward to a variety of activities and treats, including photo booths with props, rotating 360-degree video stations, popcorn and ice cream sandwiches. Food trucks will be stationed throughout campus on Tuesday and Thursday, while festive party carts will make their way through hospital floors delivering snacks. During treat distributions, employees can spin the "Wheel of Appreciation" to win UMMC-branded giveaways and other gifts, and licensed massage therapists will offer 5-minute chair massage sessions.

Other off-site clinics and locations will receive a UMMC-branded backpack distributed by managers. Random drawings for extra prizes will take place daily with winners announced via email.
