The Cameron University Gold Notes take center stage April 28 as they headline a concert for the first time. The performance in Cameron University's "Black Box Theatre starts at 7:30 p.m.
"This will mark the first time the Gold Notes take the stage for a concert of their own - which is an exciting opportunity for them to truly shine and show all that they have worked hard for this semester," said Khalil Cabrera-Tosado, the CU adjunct faculty member who conducts the group with the help of Doris Lambert. "Since the fall semester, they have dedicated countless hours to refining their pieces, demonstrating both commitment and passion for their craft.
"The performance will take place in the Black Box Theater, transformed with the subtle ambiance of a speakeasy or intimate jazz club to enhance the overall experience. Guests are invited to relax and enjoy light refreshments throughout the evening as they take in the music," he added.
The song list for the April 28 performance includes Kerry Marsh's arrangement of "Green Lights;" "Unforgettable" by Irving Gordon; "Sing, Sing, Sing" by Peter Eldridge, arrangement by Darmon Meader; Rosana Ecker's arrangement of "Fly Me to the Moon;" Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing," arranged by Mac Huff; Billy Joel's "And So it Goes, arranged by Bob Chilcott; and "I Sing, You Sing" by Anders Edenroth.
Gold Note vocalists are Mariah Baggs, Vanessa Cleophat, Darnell Collins, Divina D'Haiti, Kirstin Dunn, Brittany Hall, Winston Hartley, Kaitlan Kaulaity, Seth McCoy and Lillie Wright.
Providing accompaniment for the Gold Notes will be the CU Jazz Combo: Reece Henderson on keys, Damein Shugard on drums, Melody Veloz on bass guitar and Collin Fallon on saxophone. During the concert, the combo will be featured on a tune written by Fallon.
The Black Box Theatre is located immediately adjacent to the University Theatre, in the same building. Seating is limited for this performance.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for military with proper identification, seniors and students in grades K-8. Service fees will apply. Cameron students, faculty and staff receive a free ticket by showing valid CU identification.
