BEIJING, Nov. 13 -- The Army, Navy and Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Army jointly held a press conference at the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province, on Wednesday morning to introduce the features and highlights of the military and civilian organizations participating in the 15th Airshow China.
According to Senior Colonel Xie Peng, a spokesperson for the PLA Air Force, the PLA Air Force's J-35A fighter jet equipped with domestic engines made its amazing debut at the airshow. Together the J-20, J-16, and J-10C fighter jets, those four "musketeers of the sky" have become the backbone fighters of the PLA Air Force.
Colonel Liu Zhenhua from the PLA 75th Group Army said that the PLA Army will display seven types of equipment at the airshow, including dynamic displays already presented by the Z-10 attack helicopter, Z-20 utility helicopter, Z-8 transport helicopter and CS/VP4 all-terrain vehicle. The Z-10 and Z-20 helicopters will present more dynamic displays to showcase their excellent tactical maneuverability at low altitude, and the Z-8 will demonstrate its capabilities in conducting transport of troops, material delivery, disaster relief and other tasks.
Captain Cai Yongtao from the PLA Navy Equipment Department pointed out that the PLA Navy participated in the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition for the first time this year. The PLA Navy will furnish the outdoor static display area mainly with aerial anti-submarine equipment. It will also demonstrate the landing and air refueling capabilities of the formation of J-15DH and J-15T fighter jets, as well as the air assault operational capabilities of the PLA Navy Marine Corps onboard Z-20J and Z-8C helicopters through aerobatic performance.
At the press conference, the PLA Air Force released two special commemorative medals, including one showing its Bayi and Red Eagle Aerobatic Teams flying together in the sky and the other depicting the J-20 and J-35A stealth fighter jets operating jointly.
