The Frostburg Outdoor Recreation Economy Institute (FOREI) at Frostburg State University will host "The Power of Story: Navigating the Mental Maps We Create," an interactive workshop with Jesse Tubb, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. on FSU's campus in the Atkinson Room of the Lane University Center.
The workshop will explore how the stories people tell themselves shape the way they see the world, respond to challenges, lead and connect with others.
Through reflection, discussion and practical tools, participants will examine the "mental maps" created by past experiences, beliefs, assumptions and expectations. They will learn how to recognize when those maps may need to be reconsidered or redrawn to better navigate the path ahead.
The session will provide tools for questioning old stories, reframing perspectives and becoming more intentional about the stories that guide us forward.
Tubb is a 28-year U.S. Army veteran, certified coach, master resiliency trainer and founder of GRIT Adventures. A two-time United States Adventure Racing Association National Champion and a 2019 Eco-Challenge competitor, he combines experience in leadership, resilience, mindfulness and endurance athletics to help individuals and organizations strengthen mental fitness and authentic leadership.
"The Power of Story: Navigating the Mental Maps We Create" is presented by FOREI with support from the FSU Foundation's Kim and Marion Leonard Mindful Leadership of Self & Others Experiential Learning Fund.
The workshop is open to the University community and the public. Click HERE to register for the event.
