Faculty and staff are invited to join the Woodring College of Education and three visiting faculty members from Japan for an informal lunch session from 12:30 - 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 in Miller Hall Room 223C (the Languages Department Conference Room).

Lunch will be provided.

Professor Hitoshi Sato from Fukuoka University, Associate Professor Yuko Fujimura from Shiga University and Associate Professor Yuki Kuroda from Nihon University will spend two days on Western's campus, then will share what they have learned during the lunchtime session, "Teacher Education in Japan and Teacher Education in the U.S. - A Collaborative Exchange of Ideas."

During their two-day visit, the three professors will visit with teacher-education professors, visit practicing teachers in the Bellingham School District, visit with our teacher education chairs and meet with staff at the Professional Educators Standards Board.

Western was chosen as one of the colleges the professors will visit because of its strong reputation for teacher education.

In order to ensure an accurate count for lunch, please RSVP to Elizabeth Serrano at [email protected] if you would like to attend.
