Suspect tied to string of Colorado Springs bank robberies found deceased

On September 3, 2026, at approximately 12:04 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Communications Center received a report of a bank robbery in the 1100 block of North Circle Drive. A short time later, a second bank robbery occurred in the 500 block of North Circle Drive. Approximately ten minutes later, a third bank robbery was reported in the 400 block of North Tejon Street.

The CSPD Robbery Unit responded to all three locations and was supported by additional investigative units within the Metro Division and the FBI. Investigators and crime analysts pursued all available leads, including reviewing video surveillance from the banks, Axon Lightpost cameras, and ALPR images, as well as witness accounts of the events that transpired, to quickly develop suspect information, including the involved vehicle. Investigators were able to leverage all available information to quickly confirm the same individual robbed all three banks and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Terrell Jennings. While Mr. Jennings' location remained unknown, investigators established probable cause to arrest him for multiple criminal offenses, including second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and menacing.

In collaboration with the FBI, investigators immediately initiated fugitive apprehension efforts. At approximately 7:24 p.m., CSPD was notified of a deceased individual located in the 2200 block of Lower Gold Camp Road. Patrol officers responded and found a vehicle matching the description of Mr. Jennings' vehicle. A male matching Mr. Jennings' physical and clothing descriptions was located nearby. The male, whom investigators believed to be Mr. Jennings, had sustained a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office responded to assist with the death investigation. On September 4, 2026, the deceased individual was positively identified as Mr. Terrell Jennings. The Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death; however, at this time, the death is being investigated as a suicide.

The investigation into the events that occurred on September 3, 2026, remains active. The CSPD Robbery Unit continues to follow all investigative leads.
