MALAYSIA DEPLOYS FIELD HOSPITAL TO MYANMAR TO SUPPORT

HUMANITARIAN RELIEF EFFORTS

As part of Malaysia's ongoing humanitarian assistance and in reaffirming the Government's commitment to providing urgent relief in the aftermath of the recent devastating earthquake in Myanmar, a fully equipped field hospital will be deployed to deliver critical medical services to affected communities.

The mission, led by the Ministry of Defence in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed to ensure the swift mobilisation and effective delivery of healthcare support to areas facing acute shortages of medical services. The field hospital will be deployed to Myanmar aboard two Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) A400M aircraft, which departed from Subang Air Base at 0430 hours on 18 April 2025.

The field hospital is equipped with emergency care units and surgical facilities, and staffed by a 70-member team of trained medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and support staff.

The hospital will be established in Sagaing City and will operate for a period of 30 days in coordination with local authorities to ensure the safe, impartial, and effective delivery of medical care, particularly for displaced populations and vulnerable groups.

This initiative underscores Malaysia's steadfast commitment to humanitarian values and the well-being of its neighbours in distress. As the Chair of ASEAN, Malaysia stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar during their time of crisis, providing lifesaving assistance where it is most urgently needed.

This effort forms part of Malaysia's broader humanitarian response strategy and reflects ASEAN's collective commitment to peace, stability, and the welfare of all its Member States.
