United Federal Credit Union continues its longstanding commitment to Western Nevada College students by serving as one of the principal sponsors of the Western Nevada College Foundation's ninth annual Reach for the Stars Moonlight Masquerade Gala on Saturday, Aug. 8.
WNC Foundation's signature fundraising event, held in Joe Dini Library on the Carson City campus, raises critical support for student scholarships, academic programs and initiatives that help students achieve their educational and career goals.
United Federal Credit Union has become a valued community partner of Western Nevada College through its consistent support of students and WNC Foundation events. In addition to sponsoring previous Reach for the Stars Galas, the credit union has participated in Career Fairs, the Golf for Education Tournament and numerous campus initiatives designed to promote student success.
"United Federal Credit Union has become an invaluable partner in helping Western Nevada College prepare students for success both inside and outside the classroom," said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "Their support of the Reach for the Stars Gala helps provide scholarships and opportunities that change lives, while their commitment to financial literacy equips our students with essential skills they'll carry throughout their careers and personal lives. We are grateful for United Federal Credit Union's investment in our students and for their continued partnership in strengthening the future of our communities."
Most recently, United Federal Credit Union helped empower students with practical financial skills by leading the Financial Literacy for Student Success Workshop in The Link. During the interactive session, Senior Market Development Manager Brook Sweeting and Branch Manager Paul Rodriguez shared real-world guidance on budgeting, banking, credit and financial planning, giving students valuable tools to build confidence in managing their finances during college and beyond.
"United Federal Credit Union exemplifies what it means to be a true community partner," said WNC Chief Advancement Officer and Foundation Executive Director Niki Gladys. "Their support extends far beyond sponsorships. Whether they're providing scholarships through events like Reach for the Stars, connecting with students at Career Fairs or equipping them with lifelong financial skills through educational workshops, United Federal Credit Union is making a meaningful investment in the success of our students and the future of our community. We are deeply grateful for their continued partnership."
Founded in 1949 on the philosophy of "people helping people," United Federal Credit Union has grown to serve more than 190,000 members while maintaining a strong commitment to community service. Headquartered in St. Joseph, Michigan, the credit union operates nearly 40 branches across seven states, including two Carson City locations, and manages more than $4.2 billion in assets.
"At United, we believe that strong communities are built through opportunity, education and service," Sweeting said. "Our ongoing partnership with Western Nevada College Foundation reflects our dedication to investing in the people and potential that will shape the future of the region."
As a member-owned financial cooperative, United Federal Credit Union emphasizes community investment through financial education, volunteerism and partnerships with local schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations. The institution has earned Bauer Financial's prestigious 5-Star Superior rating for 29 consecutive years, reflecting its financial strength and commitment to serving members.
The Moonlight Masquerade Gala brings together community leaders, alumni, businesses and friends of Western Nevada College for an elegant evening dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for students throughout the region.
