The first Faculty Senate meeting of 2025 is today, Thursday, Jan. 9, from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m.The meeting will be in Faculty Commons Building's second-floor event space.
Voting members are expected to attend in person.
Agendaitems include hearing from Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, Associate Vice Chancellor Kosha Tucker, Associate Vice Chancellor Eric Bymaster, Chief Data Officer Olivia Kew-Fickus and Solutions Architect Emma Pacilli debriefing on RAFFT, and Vice Provost G.L. Black and Lisa Clapper of the Student Care Network discussing resources for student well-being.
Committee reports include updates from the VU/VUMC Ad Hoc Committee and information about the COACHE survey. A SPAF resolutionon Academic Freedom of Expression is scheduled for a vote during the meeting. Faculty bylaws require a physical quorum for the meeting's votes.
To accommodate those who may need nearby parking, limited free parking is available 4-6 p.m. in Lot 130. Parking will be marked "Faculty Senate Meeting" and is off Grand Avenue. If the parking area is full, there are paid spaces in Wesley Garage and nearby annual parking lots (131B, 132, 111, 80, and 5A and 5B) and daily parking with a pass at the Wesley Garage.
