Watch, celebrate and shop local during World Cup

As the world comes together to celebrate the excitement, passion, and unity of the FIFA World Cup, we invite residents and visitors alike to experience the energy and shop local right here in Santa Ana for all your World Cup needs.

Throughout the tournament, Santa Ana's restaurants, bars, and local businesses serve as gathering places for fans to cheer on their favorite teams and share memorable moments with family and friends. Many retail shops are also selling merchandise proudly highlighting the soccer competition and participating teams.

We encourage everyone to support these local establishments during the World Cup.

When we choose to dine, shop, and celebrate locally, we strengthen the small businesses that are the backbone of our community. These businesses create jobs, support local families, and contribute to the unique character that defines Santa Ana.

For more information on where to find World Cup watch parties and special events in Santa Ana, follow the City of Santa Ana on social media and visit Travel Santa Ana's list of World Cup Watch Parties.

Community invited to review draft Little Saigon design guidelines on June 20

The cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Fountain Valley invite community members, business owners, and stakeholders to attend the second Little Saigon Community Design Workshop on Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fountain Valley Recreation Center, 16400 Brookhurst St. in Fountain Valley.

At the first workshop held April 25, residents, business owners, and community stakeholders shared their ideas and priorities for the future of Little Saigon. Gensler has since translated that feedback into draft architectural and urban design guidelines, which will be presented to the community for review and comment on June 20. Translation services will be available at the workshop.

The design guidelines effort is intended to help preserve Little Saigon's cultural identity while exploring beautification and placemaking opportunities that support businesses, residents, and visitors. The initiative is being advanced through the California Jobs First grant funding awarded to the cities of Santa Ana, Garden Grove and Fountain Valley.

The project is expected to conclude in September 2026, with the final guidelines presented to each city for adoption.

Residents urged to protect against mosquitoes, West Nile and flea-borne typhus

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) is issuing important warnings about the presence of mosquitoes, West Nile virus and flea-borne typhus in the community, and is offering key tips on how to stop them from spreading.

Mosquito-borne diseases are among the world's leading causes of illness and death today, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In honor of National Mosquito Control Awareness Week (June 21-27, 2026), the District is urging residents to help stop mosquitoes at the source by dumping standing water, checking their yard weekly, and refreshing water sources often. For more tips, visit mosquitoessuck.org.

The District has confirmed that mosquito samples recently found in Newport Beach tested positive for the West Nile virus. Area residents may take precautions by wearing mosquito repellent when mosquitoes are most active (dawn/dusk). For more information, visit: ocvector.org/west-nile-virus.

OCMVCD has also identified an increased risk of flea-borne typhus in Santa Ana. The key to preventing this potentially fatal disease is to avoid coming into contact with fleas. Flea-borne typhus can cause fever, chills, headache, and rash; seek medical care immediately if symptoms develop. For prevention tips, visit: ocvector.org/flea-borne-typhus.

Stay alert: OC Streetcar wires now live

As OC Streetcar testing progresses, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is reminding Santa Ana residents to stay safe around streetcar equipment and vehicles at all times.

The OC Streetcar is powered by electricity from an overhead wire system. These wires are now being energized and should always be treated as live.

OCTA urges the community to follow these tips:

  • Keep yourself and objects like drones, balloons, ladders, antennas, or kites away from the electrical wire.
  • Do not enter OC Streetcar utility cabinets due to the dangers of electricity.
  • Always assume a downed power line is energized and dangerous. Stay at least 100 feet away, warn others from a safe location and call 911 immediately to report the hazard.

The OC Streetcar will also be testing along the route. Testing may occur during the day or night and may involve more than one vehicle. Streetcars may travel at traffic speeds with bell sounds and flashing lights.

Keep the following in mind:

  • Streetcars travel on the road with other vehicles
  • Streetcars are quiet and only use warning bells when necessary
  • There will not be a fence that separates you and the streetcar
  • Streetcars cannot move off track to avoid obstacles and cannot make abrupt stops in traffic
