Franklin Backs FY26 Spending Package To Slash Waste And Bolster National Security

Congressman Scott Franklin (FL-18) today voted for the FY26 Financial Services and General Government, and the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations bill. The measure passed the House by a vote of 341-79.

"As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I take seriously our responsibility to fund the federal government in a disciplined and transparent way," said Congressman Franklin. "With critical deadlines approaching, Congress must do its work and move the remaining funding bills across the finish line. These bills reflect the kind of responsible, oversight-driven decisions required to keep the government operating and meet our national security obligations."

The Financial Services and General Government bill provides $26.5 billion to support the economy, protect taxpayers, and modernize how the federal government operates. It improves IRS customer service, cracks down on fraud, strengthens cybersecurity, helps small businesses, enforces Buy American rules, protects free speech, and increases oversight to reduce waste and abuse.

The National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs bill cuts nearly $9.3 billion from last year's spending while continuing to support key allies and push back against threats from China, Iran, and drug cartels. It strengthens security at U.S. embassies, fights fentanyl trafficking, supports Israel and Taiwan, holds the United Nations accountable, and cuts programs that don't serve America's interests.
