Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Department of Agriculture funding bill signed into law by President Trump last week includes a project sponsored by Congressman Gus Bilirakis that provides $715,000 to the City of Inverness for a critically needed ladder truck. Currently, the Inverness Fire Department does not have an aerial fire apparatus. According to the Insurance Services Office (ISO), a ladder truck is required when a response area has five or more buildings that are three stories or taller or five buildings requiring a fire flow of 3,500 GPM. Inverness has over 40 buildings that meet these criteria, leaving key parts of the community unprotected by an aerial apparatus.
"This funding delivers a much-needed ladder truck that will protect lives, safeguard property, and strengthen pre-disaster preparedness," said Congressman Bilirakis. "It will also support economic growth by lowering insurance rates for businesses and residents, ensuring our community remains safe and thriving."
