Fire Hose Management Course

The Advanced Fire Control group provided a free train-the-trainer session for San Rafael Fire. This cadre, known for teaching across the state on various first-in operations, leads highly sought-after classes that typically fill within minutes of opening registration. Their members represent both large departments-such as San Francisco, Fresno, and Sacramento City-and smaller agencies throughout California. They generously volunteered their time for San Rafael because several cadre members have strong ties to Marin County, with some having started their careers here and others currently living in the area.

With the recent changes to our hose and nozzles, we have been exploring ways to enhance fire attack strategies, hose management, and victim safety. This class has equipped SRFD personnel to learn, plan, and educate the entire department by developing subject matter experts who will share their knowledge throughout the organization. San Rafael Fire also invited a Ross Valley fire engine company to participate in the training, reflecting our belief that together we are better.
