Provisional Voters: Get Your Ballot Counted!

Provisional voters have until 4:00 pm this Friday, April 4, to submit photo identification to the City Clerk's Office. The Board of Canvassers will convene at 4:00 pm on Friday to count provisional ballots for those who met this deadline.

A total of 66 provisional ballots were issued at City of Madison polling places on Tuesday.

"I encourage every provisional voter to bring their ID to the Clerk's Office so their ballot will be counted," says Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. "Help is available if you need to figure out how to apply for a Wisconsin ID."

According to Wisconsin law, the following forms of identification can be used for voting purposes:

  • Wisconsin driver license expiring after 11/05/2024
  • Wisconsin DOT-issued photo ID card expiring after 11/05/2024
  • U.S. passport expiring after 11/05/2024
  • Military ID card expiring after 11/05/2024
  • Certificate of naturalization issued within last 2 years
  • Unexpired Wisconsin driver license or state ID receipt
  • Unexpired ID receipt issued by the Wisconsin DOT through the ID Petition Process
  • ID card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe, regardless of expiration date
  • Unexpired ID issued by a Wisconsin accredited university or college-must contain issuance date, student signature, and expiration date within 2 years of issuance. If ID is expired, student must also submit proof of current enrollment.
  • Unexpired ID issued by the Veterans Health Administration
  • Citation or notice of intent to revoke or suspend Wisconsin driver license, issued within 60 days of the election

The ID does not need to show the voter's current address. The voter is proving their identity, not their address.
