Hit and Run Leaves One Severely Injured NR24300dc

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division is asking for the public's assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 70-year-old man with severe injuries.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2024, around 1:00 a.m., a dark colored sedan was traveling southbound Lankershim Boulevard approaching Erwin Street when it struck a pedestrian crossing the street in a wheelchair on Lankershim Boulevard.

The driver failed to stop, identify themselves, and/or render aid to the injured person and fled the scene southbound Lankershim Boulevard at a high rate of speed.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the severely injured pedestrian to a local hospital for medical treatment.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender's identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
