Dr. Esosa Odigie-Okon has been recognized as a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (FSCMR). The designation recognizes physicians, scientists, and technologists for their dedication to cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

An advanced cardiac imaging cardiologist, Odigie-Okon is an assistant clinical professor in cardiovascular medicine and radiology, medical director of Cardiac MRI, and co-director of Cardiac CT at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She is board-certified in five specialties - cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular MRI, cardiovascular CT, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology - demonstrating her expertise in cardiovascular imaging.

Odigie-Okon is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and serves on the Clinical Practice Committee and Membership Committee of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). In these roles, she helps develop global clinical imaging guidelines, optimize structural healthcare delivery, and advance the professional growth of the international imaging community.

Since joining the UTMB faculty in August 2024, she has played a key role in advancing the institution's clinical and institutional missions. Her leadership drove an unprecedented 300% volume expansion in Cardiac MRI, with annual case volume growing from 150 to over 450 complex cases.

She pioneered the first structured training pipeline for SCMR Level II technologist competency at UTMB and secured global visibility by successfully listing the UTMB cardiac MRI program in the SCMR international database. She also bridged subspecialties by establishing the Joint Radiology/Cardiology Advanced Cardiac Imaging Privileging Criteria, helping ensure standardized, high-quality interpretation across departments.

Odigie-Okon is passionate about leveraging advanced cardiac imaging technologies to enhance patient outcomes. She is known for her engaging teaching style, compassionate patient care, and dedication to enhancing the learning experience for future healthcare providers.

"It is a privilege to be named a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance," Odigie-Okon said. "I am grateful for this recognition by such a distinguished community of peers and leaders in the field. This honor inspires me with a renewed commitment to advancing cardiovascular MRI research, education, and clinical excellence in patient care."

Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Membership Coordinator Rebecca Whipple said this honor reflects the recognition by Odigie-Okon's peers of her distinguished level of professional and scholarly achievement, integrity, and competence.
