Marquette was well represented at a bipartisan gathering of U.S. House and Senate staff from Jesuit colleges and universities held Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.
The reception brought together graduates from across the Jesuit network for an evening of fellowship and conversation reflecting on how their Jesuit education continues to shape their work in public service.
Rev. Peter Folan, S.J., a theology professor at Georgetown, delivered the keynote address. Directors of government relations for several AJCU schools, as well as colleagues from the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, were also in attendance.
The Marquette turnout at the gathering underscored the impact of the university's Les Aspin Center, which serves as a direct pipeline for students pursuing careers in public service and government in Washington, D.C. Organizers hope to continue engaging this Jesuit alumni network - which includes nearly 800 members - through future programming and events.
