Ministry of Finance Luxembourg establishes Advisory Board on AI in Finance

The Luxembourg Ministry of Finance established an Advisory Board on Artificial Intelligence in Finance. It held its inaugural meeting on the 16th of January 2026.

The Advisory Board brings together senior leaders from the international financial sector and academia. It will advise the Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, on the strategic development and responsible deployment of AI in financial services, supporting Luxembourg's competitiveness, resilience, and value creation for the economy and society.

The Advisory Board will meet on a regular basis to help Luxembourg strengthen its position as a leading and innovative financial centre.

The Advisory Board is co-chaired by the Minister of Finance Gilles Roth and Jean-Louis Schiltz, advocate at the Court, Honorary Professor and former Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs. Its members are:

  • Jenny Johnson, President & CEO of Franklin Templeton
  • Peter Zaffino, Chairman & CEO of American International Group, Inc. (AIG)
  • Eric Xiandong Jing, Chairman of Ant Group
  • Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO of Paytm
  • Prof. Alex "Sandy" Pentland, Professor of Information Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Prof. David Shrier, Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence & Innovation at Imperial College London

Participate as observers:

  • Nicolas Mackel, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the EU
  • Claude Marx, CEO of the Commission de surveillance du secteur financier (CSSF)
  • Tom Théobald, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance
  • Nasir Zubairi, CEO of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT)

The first in-person meeting of the Advisory Board was preceded by a dinner reception hosted by HRH the Grand Duke.
