San Francisco Overnight Freeway Off-Ramp Closures on I-80, US-101, and I-280, to Install Safety Equipment

Published: Nov 14, 2025

Project Scheduled for Nov. 17 - Nov. 18

San Francisco - Caltrans is scheduling a series of intermittent, overnight freeway off-ramp closures starting Monday, November 17 through Tuesday, November 18. The closures are necessary for crews to install new roadway striping and reflective signage as part of a safety project to prevent wrong-way drivers from entering the freeway on I-80, US-101, and I-280.

To minimize impacts on the traveling public, all work is scheduled during late-night and early-morning hours.

Additional project highlights:

  • Consecutive off-ramps will not be closed at the same time.
  • A maximum of two off-ramps will be closed simultaneously.
  • The ramp closure schedule includes multiple potential closures to give the contractor flexibility in case of unforeseen circumstances such as weather or equipment issues. The listed closure dates are subject to unexpected change but will be updated as changes occur on sfhighwayprojects.com

Changeable message signs will be posted to guide motorists. Please allow for extra travel time and check Caltrans QuickMap: https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
