‘Magical Streets of Hireup’: Studio A artist Emily Crockford adds a vibrant mural to our new workspace

Our office just got a whole lot more colourful, thanks to the 'Magical Streets of Hireup' - a vibrant new 8-metre mural by talented Studio A artist Emily Crockford.

As you exit the lift into Hireup's new office space, you are immediately greeted by a vibrant 8 metre-wide artwork.

Titled the 'Magical Streets of Hireup,' this mural was created by artist Emily Crockford, a multiple Archibald Prize finalist who works with Studio A - a leading Sydney-based supported studio for artists with intellectual disability.

"I thought of the people working in the office, and what they would like," Emily says. "I want my artwork to make the people of Hireup smile, dance, sing, be happy and to enjoy my artwork while they are working and drinking coffee!"

The piece is a visual representation of the Hireup community. The three main circles represent the core pillars of Hireup's clients: disability support, aged care and our workforce partners.

Smaller circles fan outward from each pillar to symbolise the dedicated support workers, account managers, family members and support office staff who are holding everything together behind the scenes.

Connecting each circle is a "red thread" - a visual metaphor for Hireup itself, weaving together every client and their support network into one unified, connected community.

When Hireup set out to brief the mural, our goal was to find an artist who could create an artwork that was bright, energetic and would stand the test of time. It was also important for it to match the office's look and feel.

So, when we saw Emily's artist portfolio, we knew we'd found the right person.

"The brief was about capturing the vibrant, community-focused energy," says Natalie, Hireup's graphic designer, who worked closely with Emily on the project.

"We were looking for something that uplifted staff and guests from the moment they entered the office. It needed to be a welcoming focal point that felt authentic to the disability community and Emily absolutely nailed it".
