16.06.2025: UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl has paid tribute to the King's Birthday Honours music sector recipients.
Among those recognised in the King's Birthday Honours were The Who frontman Roger Daltrey who received a Knighthood for services to charity and music and artist, producer, and radio presenter Elaine Paige who becomes a Dame.
UK Music Chief Executive Tom Kiehl said: "Congratulations to all those that have received honours in the King's Birthday List. Great to see so many incredible figures from across the world of music recognised for their brilliant work."
OBE recipients this year included Stuart Worden, Principal at The BRIT School; Michael Downes, Director of Music at University of St Andrews, David Lewis, Young Voices Founder; Nick Robinson, Future Talent UK Chair and Co-Founder; and David Pickard, Former Director BBC Proms & Glyndebourne.
Meanwhile, this year's list of MBE recipients included Ann Sharp, opera singer and Artistic Director at North Wales International Festival; musician Surdarshan Singh Chana; singer and activist Gabriella Di Laccio; 10cc songwriter Graham Gouldman; Will Kennard of Chase & Status; James Manwaring, Director of Music & President Elect of Music Teachers Association; Pamela McCormick, Director of UD Music; Wayne Parmel, co-founder of ACE Dance and Music; Crispin Parry of British Underground; Angus Tulloch of Scottish Schools Pipes & Drums Trust; and musician Steve Winwood.
Tom Bloxham, Chair of Urban Splash and Manchester International Festival, Chancellor of University of Manchester, and Trustee of Tate and Manchester United Foundation, received a CBE.
Edna Auld, Alan Borthwick, Susan Margaret Crook, Rebecca Lucy Denniff, David Liston Lyle, Michele Karen Scott, Terence Stewart Smith, Jean Stewart, Frank Thomson and Clara Rachel Wilson all received British Empire Medals in the King's Birthday Honours for music activities.
Also recognised in this year's Honours list was Music In Action's Corin Mews, Elizabeth Burrowes, Director of Music Education at Brass for Africa, politician Michael McCarthy, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West Chi Onwurah who becomes a Dame; and Labour MP for Alyn and Deeside Mark Tami who received a Knighthood.
