In celebration of America's 250th birthday, the American InterContinental University System (AIUS) is excited to share a special issue of the AIUS Journal of Research & Scholarship. All the articles in this issue are tied to the military service member population.

Dr. Adam Fullerton, AIUS Doctoral Program Chair for Research & Doctoral Studies and a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, is the guest editor of this special issue of the AIUS Journal.

"As a veteran myself, it has been a privilege to witness the outstanding scholarship emerging from the American InterContinental University System," said Dr. Fullerton. "This issue contains original research from within the AIU System, organized around the military lifecycle, examining experiences from entry into service, through active military careers, the transition to civilian life, and ultimately life after service."

The articles in this issue include insights into the start of a servicemember's experience, time in service, the transition to civilian life, and life after military service.

What is the AIUS Journal of Research & Scholarship?

The AIUS Journal of Research & Scholarship is a free open-access, peer-reviewed journal, which regularly publishes issues twice a year in April and October. The journal allows AIUS faculty and students - and those outside of the AIUS - with the opportunity to be published, along with introducing interested parties to the process of publishing their works. How does Trident support military students?

To provide a good experience for military members and their families, Trident has an established Trident Military Affairs Committee, comprised of military advisory board members. The committee meets regularly to discuss trends in the military and best practices in serving military students, as well as to offer feedback that supports Trident's decision-making when it comes to the military community. We also offer a Leave of Absence policy designed to accommodate military deployment.

Does Trident provide tuition assistance for servicemembers?

Trident is pleased to honor members of the armed services with a military education grant designed to reduce the cost per credit hour of tuition that can be combined with their military tuition assistance.*

University grants or scholarships are based on established criteria as published in the University Catalog or on its website and are awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.

What resources are available to military students?

Trident has a Military Resource Center to provide military servicemembers and veterans with several online resources. This includes resources for financial management; employment, skills, and training; education goals; and health and welfare. Learn more!
