"Mike on Main Street" Rep. Coffey Visits Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois

Springfield, IL…State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) is taking the initiative to further understand businesses in the 95th District with his "Mike on Main Street" business tours. His most recent tour and meeting was at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, where he met with Chief Executive Officer Amber Kaylor.

"The entire staff and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House here in Springfield make a tremendous impact on families in need during difficult times," said Coffey. "This organization goes above and beyond to help out-of-town families feel at home while their children receive medical treatment. I was impressed with just how much work the volunteers do to make each day special for each family that walks through the door."

The Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in Springfield, Illinois, on February 15, 1986. The non-profit organization provides families with a good night's sleep, a hot meal and everything needed to keep the lives of the parents as simple and stress-free as possible while they tend to the important task at hand - devoting all their love, support and energy to helping their child get well.

The House is owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois. The operations consist of a small pool of paid staff, and a volunteer Board of Directors that includes local health professions and community business and civic leaders.

Coffey continued, "I want to thank Amber Kaylor for meeting with me and showing me just how special the Ronald McDonald House is. There are no strangers under this roof, and anyone who stays here is treated like family."
