PSU Student Government Election Sees Highest Turnout Since 2012

Last week's Associated Students of Portland State University (ASPSU) election saw the highest voter turnout of any student government election at PSU since 2012. Approximately 1,600 students-or 10% of the voting-eligible student body-cast their ballots this year.
"ASPSU has worked incredibly hard this year to increase their outreach to the student body and student organizations," said Madeline Frisk, ASPSU's advising coordinator. "It's encouraging to see that students have responded by participating not only as voters but also by running as candidates. PSU students clearly value ASPSU's role in amplifying the student voice in campus decision-making, and this achievement will help sustain their momentum into the next academic year."
As noted by Frisk, this year's election also saw strong candidate participation, with 33 students running for positions including ASPSU President/Vice President, Student Senator, and Student Fee Committee member. This is the largest pool of candidates in a student government election since 2015.
