Airbnb and five NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports racetracks announced a first-of-its-kind partnership that will make Airbnb the Official Lodging Partner for those racetracks during the 2027 racing season. The announcement was made at the South Carolina State Capitol in Columbia, alongside Darlington Raceway leadership and South Carolina elected officials.
During the 2027 NASCAR season, Airbnb listings will be displayed directly on the websites of Bristol Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Martinsville Speedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, and Talladega Superspeedway, giving fans an easy way to discover accommodations close to the track, especially for families and groups traveling together.
The partnership with these racetracks reflects a shared commitment to growing the sport, supporting the small towns that have shaped its history, and ensuring fans can experience race weekend at every level.
"Big events have been part of Airbnb's DNA since day one, and there are few events more deeply woven into the fabric of American communities than NASCAR. The racetracks in this partnership sit in towns where hotel rooms are scarce but the welcome runs deep, especially places like Darlington, Talladega, and North Wilkesboro, where neighbors have been opening their doors to race fans for generations. This partnership puts locals at the front of the pack and helps communities that make race weekends possible share directly in the economic opportunity it creates."
Adam Alfandary, Head of US East Business, Airbnb
"Our NASCAR racetracks sit at the center of some of the most passionate fan experiences in sports because they are deeply rooted in the culture and communities they call home. Through our partnership with Airbnb at Darlington, Martinsville, and Talladega, we're making it easier for fans to plan their race weekend and stay closer to the action. Together, we're helping extend the impact of our events beyond the track and into the surrounding communities that play such an important role in every race weekend."
T.R. Stape, Vice President, Track Sales, NASCAR
Big events have been part of our DNA from the start, and that dynamic is especially powerful in NASCAR country. The sport's most storied tracks sit in small towns where demand on race weekend can far outpace traditional accommodations.
Nationally, 63 percent of US Census tracts are home to Airbnb listings but no hotels. Race communities like Darlington, SC, North Wilkesboro, NC, and Talladega, AL are exactly the kind of places where short-term rentals are often the only meaningful accommodation option.
By connecting fans to Airbnb listings directly through participating racetrack websites, the partnership creates a clear pathway for everyday Americans to share their homes, showcase their hometowns, and earn supplemental income during the busiest weeks of the racing calendar-while ensuring more of the economic benefit of race weekend flows to the communities and small businesses that make it possible. In 2025, guests on Airbnb spent approximately $200 per person, per day when traveling on Airbnb, not including the cost of their listing.
"By partnering with Airbnb, we are creating new opportunities for local residents in the communities surrounding Bristol Motor Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway to welcome thousands of race fans while further driving economic impact across the region. Through our digital platforms, fans will hear directly from us about affordable lodging options throughout the Tri-Cities, Wilkes County and the Blue Ridge Mountains-helping turn day trips into extended stays during our event weekends. Together with Airbnb, we look forward to encouraging families and friends to stay longer, explore more local attractions and further support the communities that host our events."
Devron Jeffers, Vice President of National Sales, Speedway Motorsports
"North Wilkesboro Speedway is a cornerstone of North Carolina's racing heritage, and its recent return to the NASCAR Cup Series regular season calendar is a point of pride for the entire state. This partnership makes it easier for fans from across the country to come experience that history firsthand and enjoy all that Wilkes County has to offer."
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein
"South Carolina is one of the fastest-growing states in the country, and platforms like Airbnb give everyday residents a direct way to participate in that growth, turning their own homes into economic assets. The ability to use your property as you see fit is a foundational right, and home sharing is a natural extension of that principle. Today's announcement is a welcome reminder that when we protect those rights, our communities benefit."
Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives G. Murrell Smith, Jr., District 67
"There is nothing in motorsports quite like a race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, and now fans will have an easier way to make that experience a reality. Fans don't just watch a race, they spend time in our communities, eat at our restaurants, and get to know the area. This partnership will extend stays, and allow more visitors to experience the beauty of northeast Tennessee!"
Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives Cameron Sexton, District 25
"Talladega Superspeedway is one of the greatest racetracks in the world, and this partnership makes it easier than ever for fans to be a part of it. When visitors have a seamless way to book a place to stay close to the action, they spend more time-and more money-in our communities. This is a win for Alabama fans and a win for Alabama businesses."
Sen. Lance Bell, Alabama State Senate District 11
"NASCAR is a big part of the South Carolina story. The fans I represent are some of the most passionate in the country, and many of them travel across the Southeast every year to follow this sport. The economic impact of race weekends go far beyond the track itself. This partnership with Airbnb makes it easier for those fans to find a place to stay close to the action, and for South Carolinians who live in racing communities to share in the opportunity by welcoming them. It's a win for fans, for hosts, and for South Carolina."
Sen. Ross Turner, South Carolina District 8
"South Carolina is proud to be home to the track "Too Tough to Tame" and proud of the role NASCAR plays in our state's economy and culture. This announcement is welcome news for the families and small businesses of Darlington and the surrounding communities. When fans come to South Carolina for a race, we want them to spend their dollars here, in our towns, with our neighbors. That's exactly what this partnership delivers."
Sen. Shane Martin, South Carolina District 13
"Darlington Raceway is one of the crown jewels of American motorsports, and the Southern 500 is a tradition unlike any other. This partnership is going to bring more fans through the doors of one of our most iconic venues, and when they arrive, they'll find homes and hosts in Darlington ready to welcome them. That's good for race fans, and it's good for the people of South Carolina."
Rep. Cody Mitchel, South Carolina District 65
Airbnb listings on participating racetrack websites will be available ahead of the 2027 NASCAR season.
Airbnb and participating racetracks will also work together to identify ways to engage hosts in race communities, support fans traveling to race weekends, and ensure the economic impact of race events is felt throughout the local communities that host them.
