WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) joined the full House Democratic Caucus in signing onto a discharge petition from Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin (MD-08). This petition will force a vote on the No Corrupt Agreements Requiring Taxpayer Expenditures Benefitting Lawbreakers and Assorted Non-Prosecution Covenants, Handouts, and Emoluments Act (No Carte Blanche Act) of 2026 to permanently block President Trump's effort to create a $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund, one of the president's most corrupt actions yet.
"The people of Ohio's 13th District deserve a government that is accountable to them, not one that asks taxpayers to finance political favors," said Rep. Sykes. "Americans witnessed the violence and chaos of January 6, and Congress must ensure taxpayer dollars can never be used to reward those who sought to overturn our democracy. I'm proud to join this effort to permanently prevent that from happening."
