Public Meeting for Aurora Harbor Drive Down Float Design on October 15

Residents interested in the design and future of the Aurora Harbor Drive Down float can participate in an upcoming public meeting hosted by the City & Borough of Juneau (CBJ) Docks & Harbors Department. The public presentation and Q&A will take place at 6:30 p.m. on October 15 at the Juneau Yacht Club.

This project will construct a new drive-down float in downtown Juneau, similar to the float located at the Auke Bay Loading Facility. The new float will be a major improvement for downtown commercial fishermen, freight haulers, and other marine users. The float will allow vehicles-including pickups, trucks with trailers, and semi-trucks-to drive directly to the vessels for loading, unloading, and servicing.

CBJ Docks & Harbors received a $11.1 million Port Infrastructure Development Program grant from the US Department of Transportation (Maritime Administration), which will fund 80% of the project.

At the October 15 meeting, Docks & Harbors will share preliminary design documents and PND Engineers will lead a discussion on the preliminary design elements of the project with an opportunity for the public to provide comment. Docks & Harbors is also accepting comments on the design at [email protected] through October 31.

For questions regarding the project or the public meeting, contact CBJ Docks & Harbors at [email protected] or 586-0398.
