Texas Military Department Celebrate America's 250th Birthday at Camp Mabry

AUSTIN, Texas - Camp Mabry's Texas Military Forces Museum will host a special patriotic event celebrating America's 250th Birthday on July 4, 2026. The program begins at 12:40 p.m. with a performance by the internationally acclaimed 36th Infantry Division Band, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Members of the museum's Living History Detachment along with uniformed Revolutionary War reenactors will be onsite to present the colors, fire musket volleys and discharge historical Revolutionary War cannons.

The event will highlight the role of America's Armed Forces in bringing the Declaration's patriotic history to life while showcasing the evolution of U.S. Military uniforms over the past 250 years.

Following the ceremony, visitors may tour the museum and have a slice of free birthday cake, courtesy of the Texas Military Forces Historical Foundation. The entire event is free and open to the public. Bleacher seating under the majestic live oak trees will be available. Parking is free.
