PONTIAC, Mich. - Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Riley Donaldson, age 22, with First Degree Murder in the death of Ada Mae Simmons-Jones.
On October 5, the victim was shot multiple times. A purse allegedly belonging to the victim was found at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a car believed to the defendant's leaving the scene shortly after the shooting. The defendant is believed to have fled to Ohio, where she resides, before returning to Michigan a few hours later. The defendant is the daughter of the victim.
"Ada Mae Simmons-Jones' death is a tragedy," said Prosecutor McDonald. "While nothing can bring her back or repair the loss for her loved ones, we will fight to get her justice."
First Degree Murder is punishable by life in prison without parole.
Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
