SGMC Health recognized Alexandria Clanton, Patient Care Technician in the Pediatrics Department, as the September recipient of the Being Extraordinary Everyday (BEE) Award. Clanton was nominated by a colleague for her exceptional teamwork and dedication during a critical situation on the pediatric floor.
According to the nomination, Clanton stepped in to cover the floor while two pediatric nurses were caring for a critically ill child for several hours. She efficiently managed the needs of the remaining patients, actively coordinating care across the unit to ensure everyone received attentive service, while also checking in regularly to make sure the team caring for the sick child had everything they needed.
"Alex was a vital asset to our team that day," the nomination stated. "We are very thankful for her and the way she supported both her colleagues and our patients."
The BEE Award is presented monthly to recognize non-nursing staff members, including patient care technicians, nursing assistants, and medical assistants, who exemplify extraordinary dedication, teamwork, and compassion in supporting the nursing staff. Nominees are evaluated based on leadership, attitude, and clinical support skills.
"Alex's commitment to her patients and her colleagues embodies the spirit of the BEE Award," said Cherise Giddens, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. "Her selflessness and attentiveness reflect SGMC Health's core values."
SGMC Health offers a variety of recognition programs to honor employees who most exemplify the tagline, "Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness." To learn more about the BEE Award and other recognition programs, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
