October Is National Physical Therapy Month: Celebrating the Impact of PT at the Mount

Mount St. Joseph University celebrates the physical therapists who help people move better, recover and improve quality of life while preparing future professionals through hands-on learning and community service.

October is National Physical Therapy Month, recognizing the essential role physical therapists play in helping people manage pain, recover from injuries, restore mobility and maintain independence. At Mount St. Joseph University, this month highlights the impact of physical therapy and the importance of preparing compassionate, skilled healthcare professionals.

The Mount's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program combines academic coursework, hands-on learning and clinical experiences to prepare students to deliver patient-centered care. Students develop the skills to evaluate patients, create individualized treatment plans and help people achieve their rehabilitation goals.

The Mount also extends its commitment to community wellness through its free, student-run pro bono physical therapy clinic. Serving underserved and underinsured individuals in the Westside regional community, the clinic provides care at no cost to patients who may face financial or insurance barriers. Under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, DPT students gain valuable clinical experience while helping community members improve their mobility, function and quality of life.

During National Physical Therapy Month, MSJ celebrates the professionals who make a difference through movement, recovery and compassionate care-and the future physical therapists learning to carry that mission forward.
