On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) welcomed the KC2026 countdown clock for the FIFA World Cup 26™ to Kansas City International Airport (MCI). Since the clock's unveiling at Union Station on June 11, marking one year until the start of the tournament, the clock has made its way around the Kansas City metro area.
"We are boldly planning to deliver authentic Midwest hospitality during next summer's FIFA World Cup," said Pam Kramer, Chief Executive Officer of KC2026. "The clock represents the region's confidence and excitement as we prepare to showcase our people, places, and promise to the world."
With the installation at MCI, travelers can now track the time until the matches begin and start to build excitement for the international tournament. The countdown clock is the first of several activations around MCI that will become active in the coming months, keeping travelers engaged as the matches approach.
"Kansas City International Airport is often the first place travelers see of our city, and so the Kansas City Aviation Department is thrilled to host the KC2026 countdown clock. The excitement for this event will start for many people when they get off the plane and see the clock and continue throughout their visit to the city," said Melissa Cooper, Kansas City's Director of Aviation.
Travelers can find the countdown clock in Concourse A near the walkway to Concourse B.
