Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberals have tabled the Strong Borders Act with the aim of "ensuring law enforcement has the right tools to keep our borders secure, combat transnational organized crime, stop the flow of illegal fentanyl, and crack down on money laundering."

The proposed immigration bill faces strong opposition for threatening civil liberties, violating refugee rights, enabling mass deportations, and mirroring U.S. policies, causing concern among Canadian advocates and politicians.

Queen's experts Sharry Aiken (Faculty of Law) and Christian Leuprecht (Department of Political Studies and Centre for International and Defence Policy) are available to speak on the issues facing the Strong Borders Act, including what the ruling Liberals are hoping to accomplish and the potential issues moving ahead.
