On January 27, in Strasbourg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Petra Bayr, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Minister Mirzoyan congratulated Petra Bayr on her election as President of PACE.
The Foreign Minister noted that his visit to Strasbourg is symbolic as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of Armenia's membership in the Council of Europe, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the CoE on the path of democratic development. "Armenia is a democracy, and this is now an irreversible process, as we continue to remain committed to an ambitious agenda of democratic reforms despite various challenges," Minister Mirzoyan added.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as evidenced by the active engagement of members of Armenia's delegation in the PACE platform.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Petra Bayr exchanged views on regional developments. Minister Mirzoyan presented the implemented and ongoing steps towards strengthening and institutionalization of the established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan following the August 8 agreements. Humanitarian issues were also touched upon.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by the PACE on matters of particular importance to Armenia.
