Reba McEntire Marks 25 Years Since Iconic 'Reba' Show's Premiere

Reba McEntire marked 25 years since Reba's premiere.

The beloved sitcom made its debut on October 5, 2001. McEntire starred as the title character, Reba Hart, a single mother of three in Houston, Texas. The show also starred Christopher Rich as Reba Hart's ex-husband, Melissa Peterman as her unlikely friend, Steve Howey as her son-in-law, and JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers and Mitch Holleman as her three children. The series ran for six seasons, ending on February 18, 2007.

'Reba' premiered 25 years ago today! ," McEntire wrote in a post on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon (October 5). "Thankful you all welcomed the Hart family into your lives and for all the memories this show brought us! "

McEntire has since reunited with some of her former Reba co-stars onscreen. The country icon, 71, is starring as Bobbie in the new sitcom Happy's Place, which is gearing up for the premiere of its third season. The show also stars Peterman in its cast, and has featured Rich, Howey and Garcia Swisher among its guest stars. Happy's Place also stars Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and McEntire's real-life fiancé, Rex Linn.

McEntire shared with iHeartCountry in an interview last year that "the writing" is the key to a successful sitcom. "It is very important to have heart in there. You gotta laugh, but you gotta cry. You've got to hit all of those emotions."
