The news of Charlie Kirk's death is deeply tragic, and I would like to extend my sympathies to his family, friends, and all who are grieving this loss. Regardless of where he stood politically, an act of violence against an American is an attack on the values that hold our nation together. Our country was founded on the idea that differences should be resolved through open discourse, free expression, and the peaceful exchange of ideas. No matter our political differences or disagreements, violence is never the answer. At a time when tensions are high across our nation, let this be a moment where we reject division and recommit ourselves to civility and a future grounded in respect and unity. It is as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said: "Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time - the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence.…Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."
