Today, Boyish invite you to step into the world of Gun: a debut album that takes place in a fictional town of their creation. Arriving later this summer on the record label R&R (Dijon, Mk.gee), and produced by Boyish's India Shore andClaire Altendahl, and Loren Humphrey (Cameron Winter, Lana Del Rey), Gun marks the first collection of music that Boyish have created outside the confines of a laptop. Recorded with Humphrey in Tuxedo Park, NY - over the course of two months on an AMPEX MM1200 2" tape machine - band members Shore and Altendahl explain:

"Gun is a fictional town, based on the surreal experiences we've had driving across middle-of-nowhere USA over the past three years. The idea of Gun came to India while she was bedridden for three months after breaking her leg in a freak surfing accident. The album is a love story set against the backdrop of this town, like it's the set of a play. While there is a story, what's more important is the atmosphere we tried to create. We wanted the listener to feel like they're stepping into a physical place, a self-contained world, and know by the time the last song ends, something in the town has changed forever. This is not a pro-gun album, it's a pro-Gun album."

Gun is a strange and self-contained universe that defines an intrepid sound and massive leap forward for Boyish: colossal lead vocals, wailing walls of guitar, strident swarms of celestial textures and pulverizing distortion, strings and orchestral chimes all amount to a feverish feeling of catharsis. "Boyish makes music to soundtrack everything from a bad breakup to late night drives and rainy day adventures," says Pigeons & Planes. "They have music to scream to and music to cry to." On lead single "Jumbos," however, they pull listeners to a darker and more delirious space than ever before, recounting the meeting of two love-struck residents of Gun.

Inspired by Hollywood's Jumbo's Clown Room - voted the best strip club in Southern California, and described by India Shore and Claire Altendahl as the greatest place on Earth - "Jumbos" is out today, and arrives with a live video starring Jumbo's Clown Room dancer Gabrielle.

Since forming Boyish as a pandemic project, self-producing music from their Brooklyn apartment, India Shore and Claire Altendahl have quickly been called "the next big thing in the queer indie scene" (Billboard). The band has collaborated with King Princess and Rachel Chinouriri, toured with The Beaches, Claud, Hippo Campus and spill tab, appeared on a compilation record alongside Taylor Swift, Julien Baker and Girl in Red, and were named winners of the LGBTQ+ Emerging Artist Award, all while amassing more than 30 million streams across their acclaimed and growing catalog.

Boyish will be sharing more details about Gun soon, ahead of a headline European tour this September, and US dates to be announced. Find the current list of shows below, and more information at boyishmusic.com
