SOUTH PORTLAND, ME - Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins delivered the keynote address at the Manufacturers Association of Maine's (MAME) annual summit in South Portland. She was joined by hundreds of attendees at the event, including manufacturers, suppliers, and other business organizations from across the state.

"Throughout our history, Maine manufacturers and our skilled workforce have been known for innovation and quality. While much has changed over the years, the inventive spirit and desire to contribute have not," said Senator Collins during her remarks. "From producing personal protective equipment during the pandemic to strengthening our national defense and breathing new life into our heritage industries, Maine manufacturers continue to add new chapters to the proud story of products that are 'Made in Maine.'"

Senator Collins discussed her work as Chair of the Appropriations Committee to support workforce development, including securing more than $46 million in Congressionally Directed Spending over the past five years for Maine's Community Colleges to expand trade programs in welding, plumbing, electrical training, and logging. She also led negotiations of the recently enacted funding bill that provided $285 million for the Department of Labor's Apprenticeship Grant Program.

MAME is a non-profit, non-partisan trade association that provides its members with business development, networking, advocacy, and workforce development services.
